The Many Ways to Personalize a Loved One’s Farewell.

The Many Ways to Personalize a Loved One’s Farewell

For many of the families we serve in Culpeper and Fredericksburg and surrounding communities, a memento of a loved one can be incredibly comforting in the days and months following a death. With many memorial items to choose from at Found and Sons, you are sure to find something that represents your loved one.

For friends and family that had a loved one who served in the military, you may want to purchase a flag display frame. The display frame encases the folded flag given to you by the branch of service your loved one served in and gives you a unique way to honor your loved one and to preserve the flag. The experienced staff at Found and Sons will be able to craft the most honorable farewell for your veteran friend or family member.

A video tribute is a great way to enhance a service and also provides a way for future generations to relate to the life lived. Picture images, music, and dialogue can bring the story to life and serve as a remembrance for future generations.

One unique way to keep and share cremated remains is to transform them into a jewelry keepsake. For example, you can have a ring made featuring a diamond-like stone made from the cremated remains. Another treasured jewelry keepsake would be a locket that has two compartments, one for a strand of hair from your deceased loved one and the other for a photo.

Some families who choose cremation opt for a more dramatic option. For example, there is a company who will put a portion of your loved one’s cremated remains on board a commercial or scientific satellite to send the departed into space. Another company mixes cremated remains into an artificial reef to be placed in the ocean to provide a home for sea creatures.

When it comes time to plan a farewell for your loved one, the compassionate and knowledgeable staff at Found and Sons will help you create a service that honors their memory and pays tribute to their culture, values, hobbies and accompishments.

If you choose to make your own prearrangements with Found and Sons, these are decisions you can make for yourself. From top to bottom, you can craft your own service and choose the memorialization items that are right for you. The Many Options That Come with Cremation

The Many Options That Come with Cremation

Years ago, there was one factor that kept many families from considering cremation when they were planning a funeral: People used to believe that if they chose cremation they could not have a funeral service, or if they did, it wouldn’t be as meaningful as it might be with traditional burial. When you choose Found and Sons Funeral Chapels & Cremation Service, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Being a part of the diverse community of Fredericksburg and Culpeper, Virginia, our ability to personalize a funeral service with the individual’s culture, values, and personality is critical to our ability to serve your family. When families come to Found and Sons, they discover that cremation is, indeed, a dignified and meaningful form of memorialization.

As traditions change, we develop new and meaningful ways to honor and commemorate our loved ones. Our attitudes toward what is “appropriate” during a funeral become much broader, and that means we can offer families new choices and new forms of tribute and remembrance. However, families who have lost a loved one sometimes find the choices a bit bewildering. They might also need help sparking creative ideas. Our expert team can help.

In the past, some people also viewed cremation only as a way to save money on funeral costs. But now, families who do choose cremation are discovering that dignified and touching services are available to help them honor and commemorate their loved one. When you choose cremation, you may still have a visitation, memorial service, traditional funeral service, graveside observance, and many other comforting and healing rituals. And you can personalize cremation services with vaults, caskets, and urns that bear emblems and engravings denoting religious affiliation, hobbies and special interests, and military or civic service.

You can trust that we accept nothing less than excellence at Found and Sons. We use a crematory service that rises to the level of our high standards of ethics, performance, and professionalism. We always ensure our families that while the cremation process takes place, our paramount concern is preserving the dignity of the person who has died.

When you choose cremation, ask these important questions:

1.) What kind of memorial services are available?

2.) What are the choices for personalization and telling the story of the life that has been lived?

3.) Most importantly, what measures does the funeral home take to guard the dignity of the process? We assure you of our unwavering commitment to preserving the dignity of your loved one.

Found and Sons Funeral Chapels & Cremation Service is, and will remain the most trusted funeral home servicing Fredericksburg and Culpeper families. And when it comes to cremation, that’s the best assurance of all.

Q & A – What are My Options for Final Disposition?

Q&A – What Are My Options for Final Disposition?

One of the most important decisions you will make when it comes time to plan a funeral for someone you love, or for yourself when preplanning, is choosing a final resting place – or final disposition option. For most Culpeper and Fredericksburg families, there are many preferences, cultural elements, and religious requirements that can go into such a decision, and the team at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels and Cremation Service can help you determine your options. To help you get started, here is a Q&A to guide you through some of the most common choices available.

Q. How do I choose among the many kinds of caskets available?

A. That decision is highly personal and may be determined by preference and/or by budget. A variety of woods and metals are used in the construction of caskets, and the choice of styles is practically limitless. Our funeral professionals can guide you through the many selections available.

Q. If I choose cremation, is a casket required?

A. That depends upon your wishes. Even when you choose cremation, you can still have a traditional viewing prior to cremation, and you would need a casket for that purpose. If you choose to not have a viewing, then a casket is not required.

Q. What is a burial vault or grave liner?

A. These are both containers into which the casket is placed. A burial vault is made of very sturdy materials – concrete, steel, copper, bronze, or fiberglass, for example. A grave liner is also very sturdy but is a more lightweight version of a burial vault. The purpose of each is to keep the grave surface from sinking.

Q. What are alternatives to grave burial?

A. A casket, or cremated remains in an urn, may be placed in a building called a mausoleum. Most mausoleums are large and provide crypts to hold casketed remains and niches to hold cremated remains in an urn. Both crypts and niches are sealed once the remains are placed inside. Urns are sometimes placed in a columbarium, which may be located in a mausoleum or chapel. A columbarium is composed of several small compartments designed specially to hold urns. We invite you to come to our selection room to see the options you have at Found and Sons.

Q. Are there other alternatives available to cremated remains?

A. Yes. Some people keep the remains in their home, in a special urn. Many cemeteries provide designated scattering gardens for ashes. If permitted by local regulations, you may scatter remains in a place that is meaningful to you – at sea, for example.
While your memorial options are many and vary, the team at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels and Cremation Services knows that there is one that is perfect for you or your loved one. Contact us today, and we will help you discover which one it is.
