A Tribute to Veterans

A Tribute to Veterans

This is the month we set aside to honor American veterans – those valiant soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen of the U.S. Armed Forces – who all share a dedication to the defense of freedom. For generations, veterans have honored us with this sacrifice, and so all of us here at Found and Sons take our responsibility to honor them in death very seriously. We work hand in hand with their families in Culpeper and Fredericksburg to create a personalized tribute that celebrates the veteran’s life, passion, and special moments. There are a number of meaningful ways to pay tribute to these heroes, and we offer all of these options here at Found and Sons.

First, upon the request of a surviving family member, all honorably discharged veterans – regardless of rank or whether or not they were on active duty – qualify for military funeral honors. A U.S flag is provided for their casket or urn in honor of their military service and is given to the next-of-kin after the funeral. The military funeral ceremony itself consists of the folding and presenting of the American flag by two uniformed military officers and the customary playing of Taps by a bugler. Additionally, the family of the deceased will receive a special certificate from the President of the United States, known as the Presidential Memorial Certificate. This document further expresses recognition of the veteran’s dedication to his or her country. Many are also eligible for special funeral and burial benefits due to their honorable service.

In addition to military funeral honors, another particularly good way to highlight a veteran’s life is to create a funeral memorial program.  As part of this program, you can incorporate pictures of them in uniform as well as information about his or her military experience, including years of active service, tour(s) of duty, and any medals or honors received. Many choose to create a memorial program that provides a look at their friend or family member’s life on a deeper level. If that’s your choice, know you can include a few of your loved one’s favorite stories from their time in active duty. This is a wonderful way to highlight the veteran’s special qualities and the impact he or she had on others.

The best gift family and friends can give to a deceased veteran at his or her death is a tribute which truly celebrates who they were as an individual. We can help you create a unique and meaningful service that focuses not on the veteran’s death, but on the honorable life, he or she lived.

The Many Options That Come with Cremation

The Many Options That Come with Cremation

Years ago, there was one factor that kept many families from considering cremation when they were planning a funeral: People used to believe that if they chose cremation they could not have a funeral service, or if they did, it wouldn’t be as meaningful as it might be with traditional burial. When you choose Found and Sons Funeral Chapels & Cremation Service, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Being a part of the diverse community of Fredericksburg and Culpeper, Virginia, our ability to personalize a funeral service with the individual’s culture, values, and personality is critical to our ability to serve your family. When families come to Found and Sons, they discover that cremation is, indeed, a dignified and meaningful form of memorialization.

As traditions change, we develop new and meaningful ways to honor and commemorate our loved ones. Our attitudes toward what is “appropriate” during a funeral become much broader, and that means we can offer families new choices and new forms of tribute and remembrance. However, families who have lost a loved one sometimes find the choices a bit bewildering. They might also need help sparking creative ideas. Our expert team can help.

In the past, some people also viewed cremation only as a way to save money on funeral costs. But now, families who do choose cremation are discovering that dignified and touching services are available to help them honor and commemorate their loved one. When you choose cremation, you may still have a visitation, memorial service, traditional funeral service, graveside observance, and many other comforting and healing rituals. And you can personalize cremation services with vaults, caskets, and urns that bear emblems and engravings denoting religious affiliation, hobbies and special interests, and military or civic service.

You can trust that we accept nothing less than excellence at Found and Sons. We use a crematory service that rises to the level of our high standards of ethics, performance, and professionalism. We always ensure our families that while the cremation process takes place, our paramount concern is preserving the dignity of the person who has died.

When you choose cremation, ask these important questions:

1.) What kind of memorial services are available?

2.) What are the choices for personalization and telling the story of the life that has been lived?

3.) Most importantly, what measures does the funeral home take to guard the dignity of the process? We assure you of our unwavering commitment to preserving the dignity of your loved one.

Found and Sons Funeral Chapels & Cremation Service is, and will remain the most trusted funeral home servicing Fredericksburg and Culpeper families. And when it comes to cremation, that’s the best assurance of all.

The Difference Family Ownership Makes

The Difference Family Ownership Makes

When it comes time to lay a loved one to rest, you want to be certain the funeral home you choose cares enough about you to do all it takes to understand what is important to your family. Some funeral service providers here in Culpeper and Fredericksburg are owned by large corporations far from home. When corporations move in, that personal service and attention to detail is often lost. When you choose a funeral home owned and operated by a family, you can trust that they will know how to treat you. And they will have the flexibility to do what it takes to meet your needs, without being tied up by any sort of corporate red tape.

Found and Sons Funeral Chapels & Cremation Service is local and has been owned by the same family for over three decades. Family is as important to us as it is to you.

Since we live and work among you, we understand your values and traditions, and know how to weave them into the farewell you would like to plan. Since Culpeper and Fredericksburg are a part of such a diverse community, we make it a priority to be able to represent all faiths and cultures.

At Found and Sons, family ownership means personal service. Our family will be a part of your tribute, whether in the service with you or behind the scenes, making sure everything is perfect – from coordinating timing, the many options we make available to you, to the music for the video tribute. We know it’s the little things that matter most.

Family ownership also means providing value. We don’t want you to worry about cost, so we make it possible to plan a service that fulfills your needs while respecting your budget. This is also why so many Culpeper and Fredericksburg families come to us to plan their own funerals. When you make your choices ahead of time, removed from the emotion of the moment, it’s much easier to avoid overspending.
